Isolated

Standing alone,
You look around.
You see the people,
They don't make a sound.

Was it something you said?
Do you look strange?
Is it the way you think

That's distorted or deranged?

You have so much to say,

No words come out.
You're looking for yourself,
You don't know what you're about.

Eyes are on you,
You try to look away.
You like your own world,
You live for today.
I'm a TALENTED guy
I'm a DRUMMING guy
I'm a BASEBALL guy
I'm a SWEET guy
I'm an UNDERSTANDING guy
I'm NOT a hat guy
I'm a ROLLERCOASTER guy
I'm an AMBIDEXTROUS guy
I'm a SUSPENSEFUL guy
I'm a CEREAL guy
I'm an INTERESTING guy
I'm a DETROIT guy
I'm an ABSTRACT guy
I'm a DJ guy
I'm a FLEXIBLE guy
I'm an AMIABLE guy
I'm a TIGER guy
I'm a PROFILING guy
I'm a NO-NONSENSE guy
I'm a BEATLES guy
I'm a SIMPLE guy
I'm an EASY-TO-PLEASE guy
I'm a PIZZA guy
I'm a SPORTY guy
I'm a MUSIC guy
I'm a QUIET guy
I'm an OUTSPOKEN guy
I'm a COMPUTER guy
I'm a FORGETFUL guy
I'm a FUN guy

DETROIT (AP) — Veteran outfielder Johnny Damon has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers.
The team made the announcement Monday and planned an afternoon news conference at its training complex in Lakeland, Fla.
The Tigers didn't disclose Damon's salary.
The 36-year-old Damon brings another left-handed bat to the Tigers' lineup besides switch-hitter Carlos Guillen.
Damon also was courted by the Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves since leaving the world champion New York Yankees as a free agent. He batted .282 with 24 homers for the Yankees last season and is expected to lead off for the Tigers.

Dreaming Among Stars

You look at their faces,
you know their names,
and all the latest gossip.
They are perfect in every way,
from the complexion of their faces
to their pearly white smiles.
And there you sit,
palm rested on your chin,
wishing, wanting to be them.
Their fame is immeasurable--
you are just another face
in your high school hallway.
Their talents are indescribable--
all you have is a cheap guitar
and a karaoke machine.
Millions know and worship them.
Your mom is your biggest fan.
The feeling is hard to swallow
when you realize your fame is not
their fame.
But once you have realized
that what you have
is what you’ve got,
you have reached the outer galaxies
in a world where you aredreaming among the stars.

The voice in the poem is someone who wants to be a big star, but knows that it is better just to live with what you've got, even if it is the little things (mom is your biggest fan, karaoke machine and a cheap guitar). I think this assignment is a good way to show who I am, because it is cool to imagine being a big rock and roll stud, but keeping your feet on the ground keeps you from sighing and wishing you were something bigger.

True Blue

You look at the field in front of you,
Wide and open...
Once you get past the defenders.
You look at the players around you,
Fierce and ready for action...
Unless the blocking collapses.
You watch the ball,
About to be put into your hands,
Can you take it all the way?

It's the last drive,
The last play of the game.
If you can't put this in the books,
You are the one to blame.
So, suit up, get ready,
All eyes are on you.
You will protect this house,
You will be true blue.
